Blankie

Tuesday, November 9, 2010 I can't believe I have been doing this blog for like 4 months and I haven't done a post about Mackenzie's blankie. This blankie is her everything. I tried to get both the girls to attach to different "lovies" when they were babies but neither one would attach to anything. When Mackenzie was about 14 months old I was cleaning out some cabinets and I pulled this out. I had made it for Morgan our cat a year or two before because he adores fleece. Anytime there is anything fleece where he can get to it he finds it and sprawls out on it. He purrs and does the kitty massage thing with his paws. Anyway, she grabbed his blanket and never let go. She instantly attached to it and would drag it around with her literally everywhere and slept with it every single night. When she was little we would have to try to sneak it away long enough to run it through the quick wash cycle in the washing machine. It was almost like an appendage. We could barely get it away from her! And at times it would get SUPER funky. Now that she is older she is much more reasonable and will let us wash it. But she still drags it all over and sleeps with it every single night.

When she would get sleepy or upset she would take the strings and rub them under her nose. It was like her valium. And the cutest thing was she would crawl up in your lap and take the strings and rub them under your nose. She would just look at you like "get some of this. It ALWAYS makes things better." It was so adorable. I just think it's hilarious she likes this old green blanket. I made her a cute pink and yellow one when she first latched on to the green one thinking she would like them too, but she wouldn't even acknowledge their existence. This was always "the one".
